This touching episode is a tribute to one of the Grande Dames of Deia’s history, the social anthropologist Jacqueline Waldren and author of Insiders and Outsiders: Paradise and Reality in Mallorca. Two days before recording, Jacqueline passed away, leaving the village of Deia devastated. Talis Waldren, the oldest of Jacqueline’s daughters and a lifelong resident of Deia, agreed to meet with us despite her mother’s passing, seeing this as a way to honor her incredible mom. Talis’ strength, and the deep love she felt for her historical parents and community are everything and more in this excellent talk.
